Setting Up Internet Explorer 5.0 Browsers
The following information will help set up Internet Explorer 5.0 (IE 5.0) for use
with this site.
Internet Explorer 5.0 Patch
If you are experiencing problems with your web browser only loading parts
of the page, you may need to load Microsoft's fix to this problem. Load
this patch.
HTTP 1.1 Settings
If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 please make sure
the HTTP 1.1 settings are turned off. Follow these instructions to check
(and change) your HTTP 1.1 settings:
| |
1. |
Select Tools (typically at the top of the page). |
| |
2. |
From the drop down menu, select Internet Options. |
| |
3. |
Select the Advanced tab. |
| |
4. |
Scroll down to "HTTP 1.1 Settings." |
| |
5. |
If there is a check mark in any box under HTTP 1.1 settings, click on
the check mark to make the box blank. Then select Apply. |
| |
6. |
Select OK. |
| |
7. |
Close and then reopen your browser. If you are having problems with Internet
Explorer and secure web sites please make sure you have the following items
in the Advanced tab checked: PCT 1.0, SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, and TLS 1.0. |
E-mail Settings
If you are experiencing problems using our online e-mail forms and receiving
the message, "Could not perform this operation because default mail client not
properly installed," it is because IE 5.0 does not have built-in e-mail
ability anymore. Microsoft has removed this built-in feature. You must now link
your browser to your e-mail program.
| |
1. |
Go to the Tools menu |
| |
2. |
Select Internet Options |
| |
3. |
Select the Programs tab. |
| |
4. |
From the e-mail menu item select Outlook. (If there
is nothing in the menu to select, then you do not have an independent
e-mail program.) |
| |
5. |
Close the Internet Options window by clicking Apply
then OK at the bottom of the window. |
*For additional technical support setting up these products, please contact
Microsoft or your internet service provider.
Adjusting Default Settings
There are several features in the IE 5.0 Browser that Microsoft has

but they create many problems with e-commerce web sites.
The following instructions will help you set up your browser. They only
need to be performed once.
Turn off AutoComplete Form
This function saves information you enter into forms including passwords and

Internet Explorer 5.5 Issue
Internet Explorer 5.5 users may receive the following incorrect message:
"This page contains both secure and nonsecure
items. Do you want to display the nonsecure items?"
This behavior can be caused because Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 is
unable to determine whether or not the Uniform Resource Locator (URL)
accesses a secure Web site. Even when the Web site is secure, Internet
Explorer 5.5 may incorrectly display the preceding message. If you are
experiencing this problem with your web browser, you may need to upgrade your browser. Download the most recent version of Internet Explorer.
