Purchase Restriction Has Been Removed From the Treasury Plus Money Market Fund
Effective immediately, we are removing the temporary purchase restrictions for the Wells Fargo Advantage Treasury Plus Money Market Fund. This action lifts the temporary closure of the Fund to new shareholders that was implemented on November 21, 2008. However, the Wells Fargo Advantage 100% Treasury Money Market Fund remains temporarily closed to new investors and has a $1 million purchase limit per existing shareholder per day. There are no restrictions on redemptions for either of the Funds.Background: Since last fall, events and volatility in the financial markets have created additional demand for U.S. Treasury securities. This increased demand reduced the readily tradeable supply of U.S. Treasury securities and repurchase agreements collateralized by U.S. Treasury securities (Treasury repo) in the marketplace, which resulted in an increase in prices while causing a decrease in their yields.
Recently there has been an increase in the yields of U.S. Treasury securities. Given this improvement in market conditions and our commitment to providing outstanding service to both existing and new clients, we have decided to reopen the Wells Fargo Advantage Treasury Plus Money Market Fund to new investors. However, if the market should take a turn, we may decide to temporarily reclose the Fund so that we may continue to prudently manage the Fund for the benefit of our shareholders.
Please note that as indicated in the Funds' prospectuses, we reserve the right to refuse or cancel a purchase or exchange order for any reason, including if we believe that doing so is in the best interest of the Funds and their shareholders.
For the benefit of the Fund, we request that trades be placed as early in the day as possible.
